Ice Rink Study

The Rockford Park District along with various community partners will begin conducting a study to determine if it is feasible for an additional sheet of ice.

With aging facilities and the increased demand for ice sports, the District wants to ensure that our community would support the investment of an additional sheet of ice. HVS Convention, Sports & Entertainment Facilities Consulting, Inc. has been hired to conduct the ice feasibility study with various stakeholders.

The Feasibility Study will:

  • Evaluate current facility usage and physical conditions
  • Analyze current program and operational components
  • Complete a review of revenues and expenses
  • Complete a building mechanical and ice system analysis
  • Include an analysis of market conditions, demand, needs, and amenities
  • Economic pro formas of operating expenses and revenue projections

The study should take approximately 3 - 4 months and a final report will include capital cost estimates, schematic designs, and funding options. The City of Rockford will lead the study on parking impacts and options that adding a new sheet of ice would need.
