Greetings to the Residents of the Rockford Park District
The Rockford Park District makes our community a great place to live, work, learn, and play!
That's a bold statement, but it's one we often hear from residents, business, and community leaders.
The five-member Board of Commissioners are your elected representatives to oversee and govern the Rockford Park District. We serve six-year terms without compensation. It is our privilege to represent you as we govern and guide the staff in determining what services are offered for people at a cost that is within our available financial resources.
Your input and feedback is highly regarded. We will again be conducting a community survey this summer, and invite your participation. We encourage you to access our new web site at www.RockfordParkDistrict.org and learn more about what is offered and how you can become involved in volunteering or supporting various community projects. You are welcome to attend Board meetings, which are generally held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 5:00 p.m. at the Webbs Norman Center at 401 South Main Street.
I encourage you to obtain a copy of the 2007 Annual Report that reflects on the major results and achievements of the District during 2007 so that you are well informed as to how your park and recreation system is functioning. We also will be informing you of key issues and challenges we are facing as we move forward together, the community and the Park District, to a shared future.
We are confident that we can keep Rockford a wonderful community to raise a family - a great place to live, work, learn, and play.
Sincerely,
Douglas J. Brooks, President
